Fleet week. There's always mixed feelings about this. Some people HATE it because of the Blue Angels practicing above their homes and office buildings, and some people love and appreciate it.

I don't really have strong feelings for or against it, but I think it's pretty cool that we get stuff like this in San Francisco.  Blue Angels always remind me of being in elementary school, playing jumprope or running around playing tag, and whenever they'd fly by over us with that loud whooosing sound, everyone would stop what they're doing and look up in awe.

My latest observation... Majority of the people who HATE it are transplants. I even asked some people I knew who grew up in San Francisco what they thought about it and most of them said that even though, yes, after a couple days, the noise gets annoying, that they didn't really have a problem with it. Some people that were part of my survey were from a Yelp thread and I checked the hometowns of those who hated Fleet Week, and yep, majority of them listed some location other than San Francisco for their "Hometown". People who responded with something along the lines of "Get over it" listed San Francisco or some city down the peninsula as their hometown.

It's only once a year for one week, so quit your yappin. Some people enjoy these things: airshows and miltary appreciation. I also walked to downtown today (beautiful day, I might add) and saw lots of nice looking guys in their spiffy Navy uniforms roaming around Union Square. Appreciated. :D

I missed the bus this morning. TWO of them. I turn the corner and there I see two buses leaving the curb. Two buses decided to arrive at the same exact time today. Unfortunately, I arrived a couple seconds later.  I checked Next Bus and it said the next one would be arriving in 6 minutes... So I walked. 1 mile. To work. No bus passed me by. Not the typical Monday for me.

Did I really walk 1 mile in less than 6 minutes? Doubt it. Bus was probably not on time. As usual.

On the way to work, I pass by Shell and snapped the following on thee phone. Unbelievable. Thank you San Francisco for dirty, smelly public transportation that comes in twos. Because of you, I never really have to worry about gas prices.

Today's view from my favorite spot in my neighborhood. These days are rare in SF. Every building and detail, crisp and clear. No fog in sight. <3

An empty double-bus pulls up in front of me, and guess what? I don't even get a seat.
Did I mention this is a double-bus?

Taking the 30 is like playing musical chairs with little Asian women and their big bags. You get in, and they will shove, push, and do whatever it takes to get to their favorite seat or sit next to their bus buddy.

I'm used to standing on buses, so I'm not exactly complaining that I had to stand during the whole trip... but I just could not believe that, for once, an empty bus actually stops in front of ME (which never happens), but I didn't even end up getting a seat.

While on the topic of public transportation, I haven't taken the Metro since I wrote this. I hear they're bringing back the N-Judah and introducing a new bus line, but forget that. My claustrophobic tendencies have minimized ever since I started taking the bus (even if it's packed--at least there are open windows!), and I rather play musical chairs with little Asian women than risk being stuck in an underground tunnel for 10+ minutes.

On a somewhat-related-but-not-really note, at the 24th & Mission St. BART station, there was a hardcore Christian Latino group singing their hearts out to Jesus in Spanish while this weirdo crazy guy drinking out of a Snapple bottle dropped his backpack and started pole dancing on the BART sign post, directly in front of the chorus group. HOW NO ONE AROUND ME DID NOT THINK IT WAS HILARIOUSLY FUNNY IS BEYOND ME!! He did this for about 10 minutes until he got tired and sat down on the ground. I hate witnessing funny moments and not being able to live in it because I end up having to hold back my laughter to avoid strangers from thinking I'm crazy. Even just thinking about it now makes me chuckle. Maybe I am crazy.

At the same time, on the other side of the street, some crackhead took off his fungus green shirt and started bathing dry cleaning himself by wiping a stick of deodorant all over his body. I looked away when he started unzipping his pants to rub some on who knows where. He later changed into a red shirt. I bet he has a hot date tonight.

The past few days I've found myself stuck in the Embarcadero tunnel for at least 10 minutes. You do not know how it is for me. I cannot stand being in a closed and crowded space for such a long time without any movement, especially in a tunnel! (I think I may be claustrophobic.) This morning, the T went on autopilot and decided it wanted to park inside one of those narrow tubes with the dead end. Everyone had their "WTF" faces on. A bunch of us just watched the other packed Ts and Js pass us by for the next 20 minutes until the conductor had to manually get the car back on the right track to get us the heck outta there.

I'm taking the bus tomorrow and the day after, or maybe forever now.
Or I'll start by trying to get up earlier than usual so I can get on a not-so-crowded BART and MUNI.

P.S. I also hate the ear-piercing 90 dB door alarm that goes off when someone tries to hold the door open.
